Elul is the month before the Yamin Noraim—the Days of Awe, which we also call the High Holidays. We traditionally make time during this period for introspection and self-evaluation. This work is called cheshbon nefesh, an accounting of our soul.
Please join Rabbi Lorin at Adas Yoshuron or on Zoom for a three-part class/discussion to help us engage in cheshbon nefesh. We will (1) rethink how to make the High Holidays meaningful to each of us, (2) explore the concepts and practices of teshuvah (repentance/returning) and (3) situate Elul and the High Holidays in the larger context of our participation in the Jewish community throughout the year. There will be an optional light dinner at 6 p.m. for those joining in person (RSVPs for dinner are strongly encouraged).
Each session can stand alone, but each will build on the previous one. Each session will also include an opportunity to learn some songs and prayers from the High Holiday liturgy.
If you plan to join for dinner RSVP by the Thursday prior to the session: info@adasyoshuron.org.
