About Us

Adas Yoshuron Synagogue, located in Rockland, Maine, has been a  beacon of light and learning for Jews since its founding by Russian immigrants in 1912. The unaffiliated congregation fosters a unique Jewish experience filled with wisdom and wonder, beauty and possibility, inquiry and curiosity. Here, congregants find strength, comfort, and common purpose restored and reinvigorated.

Adas Yoshuron, the only synagogue within 40 miles, is an inclusive and welcoming place for a membership enriched by our varied backgrounds. We are home to educators, farmers, doctors and health professionals, craftspeople, and lawyers. Also here are artists, business people, writers, community-service leaders, tech workers, and long-established families spanning two, three, even four generations. This diversity provides us with a strong sense of history and tremendous vitality.

Sabbath services are held regularly, services for the High Holidays and other special days are part of the congregation’s calendar, a Hebrew school for grade-school children meets weekly, and a wide variety of cultural and community events take place throughout the year.

Our Judaism is dynamic and meaningful and brave. Adas Yoshuron is a special place, a Jewish place, every day for everyone.
