As part of the Talking about Our Times post-October 7 series, Lauren Cohen Fisher, a Jewish Studies faculty member at Colby College, will speak about Early Zionist Responses to Palestinian Arabs, followed by a Q+A "Ask Me Anything About Israel/Palestine” session. Cohen Fisher holds a faculty appointment in Jewish Studies at Colby College, where she is the Director of Jewish Student Life and teaches about Israeli society and the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. Using a pedagogical framework that explores concepts of power and identity, she seeks to understand how different demographic groups in Israel/Palestine understand their relationship to themselves, to land, and to each other. She has served as an expert consultant for national and international organizations, helping shape how to teach about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in a way that is intellectually rigorous, pedagogically sound, and resonant to emerging adult learners.
